Olga Vásquez > Registered Representative"If I have to walk to the bank with my client to open his or her first checking account...I'll do it."
One of my greatest driving forces has been the desire to share the valuable information we have at First Investors with people in the community I grew up in: the Black and Latino community. Financial literacy was like learning a new language for me until I reached college, and I wanted to make sure that once I graduated, I gave myself the opportunity to share what I had learned with as many people as possible. By interning at First Investors for several summers, I realized this was the perfect career for my mission. I have built my business based on the premise that I truly want to help others. I try to see as many people as possible and I will travel however many miles it takes to get there. My clients appreciate this, and it has worked in my favor. The majority of my clients are middle- or low-income individuals and families. They never thought anyone would review their finances because they thought they needed hundreds of thousands of dollars before anyone would be willing to care about their situation. I also take the time to really listen to what's important to my clients. It is not unusual for me to spend three hours with a client on a first call because I have spent the entire time asking questions, trying to learn as much as possible about what moves and motivates them. The more people I meet, the more I realize that most people want the same things, such as financial stability, successful careers, healthy lifestyles and happiness for their families. I spend time asking clients for their personal stories. I ask, "If your life were a book you were going to write, how would you summarize it for me? What was a turning point in your life that completely changed your path, your career, your family? What do you work so hard for? Why? What do you want people to remember you for? What will be your legacy?" I understand that I cannot spend my entire career working with one client or one family, so while I am with them, I give them my all. If I have to walk to the bank with a client to open his or her first checking account so that we can establish a monthly savings plan to build an emergency fund and/or to apply for life insurance, I'll do it. If there is paperwork that needs to be filled out, I'll help complete it. If a client has questions about his or her statements, I am there to review them. Because of this, I feel confident with my career choice because I know I am helping my clients build a financial foundation that will withstand the test of time and any market turbulence. I try to gain my clients' trust and respect every step along the way so that they'll never have to think twice about referring me to others. I strongly believe that good actions breed good reactions and all the effort that goes into building relationships and my business is setting me up for a career with inevitable long-term growth. I feel very fortunate to work with a Company that allows me to fulfill my purpose in life, while making a great living in the process. I have maintained my level of success during my short career because I am a hopeless romantic who believes there is always a treasure at the end of the rainbow. At FIC, that rainbow is one you form yourself with hard work and lots of determination. I am looking forward to achieving my own goals in my personal and professional life, while helping my clients achieve theirs. |
