Working for First Investors is about more than making a living. What keeps me going is my clients - the people I have been developing relationships with for 21 years. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a baby grow to young adulthood and head off to college with the funds you have helped his parents accumulate. There is nothing more gratifying than the glowing expression of a client telling you about her first trip to Europe in retirement. Even in difficult times, there is a role for me to play. I am honored to be a source of support and resource for a grieving spouse or child. What I do makes a difference to my clients. It is a privilege to contribute to so many lives in these important ways.
My approach to working with clients is as a problem solver—there is always a way to help someone reach their goals. Some situations are very challenging, but I only work even harder, to look even deeper, and help move people closer to their dreams. An optimistic outlook is key, focusing on possibilities, rather than obstacles. Sometimes this requires creativity—an "outside the box" mentality. Complacency is never an option. Every situation presents me with opportunities to expand my knowledge and experience. With each client, I become a better representative.
Over the last 21 years I have also developed relationships with peers. Annual Conventions, training seminars and Chairman's Council meetings have provided an environment for camaraderie and communication. Whether seated around a conference room table or on lounge chairs around the pool, the opportunity to share ideas and laugh together helps me to continue growing and to have a sense of connection. Spending time with spouses and children at the Convention adds to the feeling of First Investors as family. This is a unique and valuable part of my career with First Investors.
As I move forward, I continue to look for ways to be better at what I do. My goal remains to help people live the lives they dream about. By staying true to this goal I am able to live the life of my dreams: a life of integrity, value and connection.
